Description

Kent Robert Williams (born 1962) is an American painter and graphic novel artist. His work has appeared in comics (Blood: A Tale, Havoc & Wolverine: Meltdown), graphic novels (including The Fountain with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky), Novels (Stephen King‘s A Drawing of the Three – Book Two of The Dark Tower Series), printmaking, photography, design, architecture, and film. A selection of his works on paper, Kent Williams: Drawings & Monotypes, was published in 1991, and Koan: Paintings by Jon J Muth & Kent Williams, was published in 2001, and his monograph, Kent Williams, Amalgam: Paintings & Drawings, 1992-2007, with text by Edward Lucie-Smith and Julia Morton. Williams’ style is considered influential and groundbreaking for its impact on DC’s Vertigo line, and comics in general.

He attended the Pratt Institute in New York City, graduating in 1984, and has taught illustration and foundational painting at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design.

This sketch was obtained at SDCC in the early 1990s.
