Chris Bachalo is one of the best illustrators in comics. Period. His run on Shade the Changing Man and Death: The High Cost of Living at Vertigo established him as a fam favorite among discerning readers, but his jump to Marvel on Generation X helped to give face to the concepts that would shape the Mutant storyline ever after.
This prelim is the final page of the second issue of Wolverine & the X-Men from 2011, a collaboration with Jason Aaron – who has proven to be the most consequential writer of X-Men comics since Chris Claremont. This page features a defiantly indifferent Kid Omega and would be the final page of the issue. The published page however relegates this image to a split panel page, making this prelim a better page since it showcases the original intent for it to be a splash page.
There is more character in this prelim than on the final published page, but there is also as much detail. This would have been the first ever Kid Omega solo splash page and even as published is one of the MOST identifiable images of the character.
