Description
Robot Carnival was produced by Akira‘s Katsuhiro Otomo as a sort of Cyber Fantasia, bringing together the biggest talents in Japanese anime to tell individual but related stories. Koji Morimoto‘s worked with Satoshi Kon on the Magnetic Rose segment from Otomo‘s Memories, and some of the best Studio 4C productions. His episode, Franken’s Gear, is a Chaplin-esque retelling of Frankenstein that likely influenced elements of Tim Burton‘s Edward Scissorhands. This cel was used as keyart for the original USA home video release.
