Description

Professor Nicodemus Hazzard is seeking a way to control The Spectre – or eliminate him. That mission leads him to a mysterious artifact called the ‘Spear of Destiny,’ and to the Spectre’s former allies, the Justice Society of America. This page features a special appearance by Golden Age hero, Johnny Thunder, pictured in retirement discussing with Hazzard his first meeting with the Spectre, battling Nazis in World War II.

This issue marks only the second-ever appearance of Hazzard and he’s featured prominently on this page, as is the titular hero in a retelling of the JSA’s origin.

John Ridgway is perhaps best-known as the penciler on the inaugural run of John Constantine solo stories in Hellblazer, as well as his collaborations with writer Grant Morrison in Warrior Magazine and for his work on Doctor Who. He has never been particularly prolific, making all of his original art relatively scarce. This is probably the least expensive piece currently on the market.
