SPIDER-GWEN: by Emilio Laiso

Emilio Laiso is a comic book interior and cover artist from Italy, working both traditionally and digitally. He is well known for his work with Marvel Comics, such as Deadpool, Spider-Man, Star Wars and Civil War, but has worked with many other major comic book publishers, including IDW Publishing (Street Fighter X G.I Joe), Image Comics (Hack/Slash and Hoax Huntress), Boom Studios (3 Guns and Robocop), Aspen Comics (Fathom and Homecoming), and as a cover artist for Zenescope Entertainment and Avatar Press. He shared the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book in 2020 with Simon Spurrier and Ashley Witter for Star Wars Doctor Aphra.

This whimsical cover-worthy pin-up of an unmasked Spider-Gwen aka ghost-spider is a cool mash-up that combines the character’s contemporary costume (one-piece leotard and ballet flats) with the headband and bangs look that John Romita gave Gwen Stacy during his run on Amazing Spider-Man back in the 1960s. Her cell-phone reveals a Spidey icon that could be either a screensaver or caller ID, but is it Peter Parker or Miles Morales?
