The Secret of the Black Orchid,” script by Mike Fleisher and Russell Carley (Script Continuity), art by Fred Carrillo; Black Orchid disguises herself as female gang-member Roxanne to infiltrate a gang that is planning a diamond heist; She foils it with little difficulty; Change focus to Ronne Kuhn, race-car driver, jet pilot, and heiress; Why does she have a Black Orchid costume?
DC’s Bronze Age supernatural comics were massively influential upon the Copper Age Horror books that spawned the Vertigo line. Are Carrillo’s run on Black Orchid in the back of Phantom Stranger made such an impression on Neil Gaiman that he rebooted it as one of his first prestige format titles.
