FANTASTIC FOUR #5 pg 9: Silver Surfer by Jim Lee (Joe Chiodo color guide)

Jim Lee revamped the Fantastic Four as part of Marvel’s 1996 Heroes Reborn reboot. Long-time inker Scott Williams and colorist Joe Chodo were his collaborators, and each brought their A Game. But computer coloring at Marvel in that era was distractingly oversaturated, which is what makes this original hand-painted color guide by Joe Chiodo such a (sour for the pun) Fantastic piece of art work.

Jim Lee’s published pencil pieces are well out of grap for most collectors, making this fully painted color guide a tremendous bargain –especially since this is the color guide to the only Silver Surfer solo splash by Jim Lee.
